The Legal Stuff
Whilst we all love a good party, a wedding is also a serious legal commitment each couple is making to one another. Whilst all the paperwork can get overwhelming to some, we here at Weddings & Wakes love a bit of legal lingo and would love to help you navigate it.
NOTICE OF INTENDED MARRIAGE
The NOIM Form is required to be completed by the couple and handed to the Marriage Celebrant at least 31 days before the wedding.
This form can be signed by us or it can be completed with a JP, GP or other authorised witnesses.

On the day
Before the ceremony the couple is required to sign the “No impediment to Marriage form” and after the vows several copies of the Marriage Certificate. We at Weddings & Wakes will have this all organised for you on the day and we’ll even bring the pen!
Authorisation
Authorised Civil Marriage Celebrants in Australia are managed by the Federal Attorney General. On their site there is an abundance of information about the marriage process as well as how to make a complaint if needed. Click the link below to find out more.
